L’Architetto Illegal
2006 | Studio Dabbeni | Lugano, CH

Illegal architecture appears on the facades of public buildings and interior spaces with spatial structures that involve the entire environment, often using recycled material. In Dávila’s ephemeral architecture or ‘unfinished sculptures’ he implements conceptual strategies to confuse or undermine cultural meanings intrinsic and instrumental in the values of form and materials. Intersecting the architectural logic with emotional and illogical components, Dávila offers platforms for reflection on its content and its idealism, in his own words, focusing on the “gap between what we know, what we see and what we feel”.
